Woodcracker® C550 in Action

Tree harvesting from the water! Watch how the tree shear Woodcracker® C550, with a cutting diameter of up to 60 cm, safely and efficiently fells trees directly from a boat!

The company BUNTE, known as a specialist in hydraulic engineering, was commissioned to carry out tree trimming along the Misburger Harbor. To complete the task, they rented the Woodcracker® C550 from our dealer EBERT. The goal was to clear the waterways to allow boats and ships to pass through without obstruction.

The combination of the Woodcracker® C550 and a CAT long-reach excavator with a range of approximately 18 meters enables safe and efficient operations without requiring workers to enter steep and hazardous slopes.

Why use a tree shear instead of a grapple saw in this situation?

Sand and dirt accumulate in the embankments and on tree bark, which would cause excessive wear on a chainsaw. In addition, if a grapple saw is used, there is a risk of the saw cutting into the ground on the steep slopes, potentially damaging the saw. In this respect, the use of tree shears makes more sense, as the blade is much more robust and less prone to wear. The tree shear is more user-friendly and the cutting process is faster. The high-strength blade has a very long service life of up to 1000 working hours. Additional special features of the Woodcracker® C are the Multigrip control and the accumultator. The accumultator enables fast work in weak wood, as more material can be cut and deposited at once. The Multigrip control provides an additional secure grip on the cut material.
