With the Woodcracker® CS590 flexHead2, WESTTECH now introduces a groundbreaking attachment for truck-mounted cranes: a grapple saw that transforms any loader crane into a powerful tree-felling machine.
All the advantages of a rigid attachment – without the extra weight
With a dead weight of only approx. 700 kg, the grapple saw is among the lightest in its class. It weighs almost the same as a gimbal-mounted grapple saw while offering all the benefits of a rigid-mounted attachment. Combined with a cutting diameter of up to 62 cm, it delivers an outstanding cutting diameter-to-weight ratio.
One of its standout features is its exceptional flexibility, made possible by the actively controlled kinematics. Thanks to two-axis control – 360° endless rotation and 160° vertical tilt movement – the flexHead moves just like a human wrist. This freedom of movement allows operators to reach branches from almost any position and even perform lateral cuts with ease.
Secure grip – even at full reach
The powerful grapple of the Woodcracker® CS590 flexHead2 ensures a firm hold on the cut material, even when the truck-mounted crane is operating at maximum reach. Because the kinematics are actively controlled, there is no need to stop pendulum movements, as is required with a gimbal-mounted grapple saw. Faster and easier positioning on the tree, combined with precise and effortless placement of the cut material, makes a noticeable difference in everyday operation.
Every cut is carried out with maximum control, allowing the material to be placed accurately and exactly where required. This significantly reduces the risk to people, buildings, vehicles, and existing infrastructure, providing ideal conditions for safe and efficient tree care.
Like all WESTTECH grapple saws, the FlexHead’s saw unit is equipped with an integrated automatic chain tensioner, ensuring the saw chain is always maintained at the correct tension.

The Woodcracker® CS590 flexHead2 impresses not only during operation but also with its quick and easy installation. Transported on its specially designed transport box, the flexHead can be mounted to a truck loader crane quickly and conveniently using a plug-and-play system, making the machine ready for operation in just a short time.
