The Bulgarian manufacturer of bleached kraft pulp, Svilocel EAD, uses the log grapple Woodcracker W1350 to chop and process wood – a main preparation step for their production.
The WOODRACKER TK (Telekinematics) enables a rigid mounting of WOODCRACKER cutting heads to harvester, telescopic cranes and rehandling excavators, where so far only pendular suspension was possible.
Asturforesta is an international exhibition for the forest industry, which takes place on the Iberian Peninsula from 15th to 17th June 2017 in the woods of Armayán, Tineo, Asturias.
Asturforesta 2017 is the eleventh edition of the forest exhibition by now and starts over with new experience based on their former successful events. Westtech will present their product innovations on an exhibition stand and also demonstrates their forest machines in action.

On 21st and 22nd April 2017, the MINERAL Bager Expo took place in the driving safety center of Vransko, Slovenia, a small city of 2.600 residents.
The expo of the business magazine MINERAL issued amongst others construction equipment, attachments and utility vehicles. The Slovenian magazine adresses in particular companies and public institutions in civil and underground engineering and public services.
For the first time, Westtech took part at the expo along with known brands, like MAN, Scania, Case or Takeuchi and introduced the WOODCRACKER range. Numerous visitors had a closer look at the tree shear CL190, the cutting head C350 and the wood splitting tong W1000.
The application areas for WOODCRACKER forestry machines are versatile, but to a certain extent limited to the flexibility of the carrier vehicle. Therefore Westtech always watches out for carrier vehicles and machines that make rough terrain accessible and enable a faster workflow in the forest. After all, time is money.
Safe with Street-Rubbers
The primary used carrier vehicle for WOODCRACKERs are excavators. Therefore, an exciting cooperation with Street-Rubbers arose. Street-Rubbers are rubberized and street-legal crawler units that combine the benefits of steel chains and wheel drive, especially for wheel excavators. Simply put, maximum traction in terrain but also complete roadworthiness without causing damage to the asphalt. Street-Rubbers broaden the footprint of the wheel excavator and treat the forest ground with care.
Access new application areas
Using Street-Rubbers extents the application for WOODCRACKER forestry machines. Rough terrain or inaccessible slopes are easier to handle. Additionally, no low-loaders are needed for short-distance transportation. An excavator equipped with Street-Rubbers combined with the cutting head WOODCRACKER C turned out to be a beneficial arrangement. Larger quantities of wood can be harvested automatically in a soil-conserving way, especially in places where typically manual work is necessary.
Westtech designed a smaller cutting head of the C model range especially for the harvest of small trees and bushes, cutting up to 25 cm in diameter in soft wood. The agile and light-weighted attachement weighing only 210 kg is attachable to small excavators of 2.5 ton net weight or even to farm loaders of known brands.
In January 2017, the excavator and forestry service provider Martin Gotsmi carried out land clearing along the banks of the Danube in Marbach, Lower Austria, with the aid of WOODCRACKER forestry technology. The service provider Gotsmi GmbH from Klein Pöchlarn received the order to clear the embankement of 4 km in length from trees and bushes, to prepare the area for a new building project. Marbach suffered massive damage after floods in 2002 and 2013 and eventually got the approval for the building of a new flood protection.
